Botox

Botox is a trading name for botulinum toxin A. It was produced by Allergan Co., Ltd. in the United States. Botox is a pure protein, extracted from Botulinum toxin type A. It is used to reduce wrinkles around the eyebrows and forehead, and crow’s feet, causing smooth skin on top of those muscles. Botox is popular and widespread in more than 100 countries around the world. It has been researched and tested for over 12 years to confirm treatment in millions of people worldwide. According to medical treatment, wrinkles on the face are caused by many factors, such as increasing age, exposure to sunlight and heat, effects of makeup or use of makeup, stress, and facial expressions. Botox injections every 6–8 months help effectively reduce those skin problems. Botox injections or Botulinum toxin imported from the right agents are therefore safe and certified by the Food and Drug Administration, both in Thailand and abroad.

Preparation
1. Stop taking vitamins, especially vitamin E, fish oil, 2–3 days before the treatment.
2. Do not take aspirin for at least 1 week.
3. Avoid alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours before injection.

Procedure for reducing facial wrinkles with Botulinum toxin  
1. Apply anesthetic or cold compress to injection site.
2. Inject into area wished to reduce wrinkles by using a very small sized syringe. For those who are afraid of injections, there is no need to be afraid.

3. Sit upright for a while once the injections are completed, then go home without staying overnight.

Botulinum toxin injection takes approximately 5–10 minutes per point. Once the injection is complete, patients can go back to their normal life without recuperating. The results after injection can be observed in about 1 week and last for about 4–6 months. For continuous results, it is recommended to repeat injections to last longer.

Self-care after Botulinum toxin treatment  
1. Avoid lying down. Sleep on a low pillow for the first 4 hours to prevent substances penetrating deeper than the desired area of effect.
2. Do not massage the botulinum toxin injection site, as it will allow drugs to spread into muscles around the eyes.
3. Move injected muscle every 15 minutes during the first hour after injection to make drugs work better.
4. If there is a bruise after injection, use cold water to compress, avoid massaging.
5. Avoid drinking alcohol for the first 3–7 days.
6. Avoid saunas for 1 month.
